2026 Coaching Staff spotlight! A Kansas City native, Luke Bergrud developed a passion for soccer at an early age and has dedicated much of his life to the game as both a player and coach. He played four years at Park Hill South High School before continuing his collegiate career at Park University. During his playing career, Luke gained an appreciation for the impact coaches can have on the development of young athletes, inspiring him to begin coaching in 2021. Since entering the coaching profession, Luke has served on the coaching staffs of both the boys and girls soccer programs at Park Hill South High School, where he is a varsity assistant coach and head coach of the C-team programs. During his time on staff, he has helped guide the Panthers to multiple district championships, a Class 4 State Runner-Up finish, and a fourth-place finish at the Missouri State Championships. Luke has previously coached at the club level before joining Kansas City Surf. He also holds a U.S. Soccer D License and is committed to continuing his coaching education. Luke is excited to join Kansas City Surf as the ECNL RL U14 Girls Head Coach. He believes the game is about far more than wins and losses it is an opportunity to build confidence, develop character, and create lifelong memories.

Three Kansas City Surf players, Lena, Mila, and Sofija, had the incredible opportunity to be part of the official reveal of the LEGO model of CPKC Stadium alongside Kansas City Current owners Chris and Angie Long. Not only did they help unveil the one-of-a-kind stadium model, but they also designed their own custom LEGO minifigure players—becoming the very first players placed inside the stadium display. What a special experience made possible through the Teal Rising Alliance. Opportunities like these go far beyond the field, giving our players unforgettable moments and a chance to be part of the growth of soccer in Kansas City.
