We are excited to welcome Adam Fencl to our coaching staff!
Adam brings a strong playing background and a growing coaching résumé as he enters his 5th year of coaching. His experience includes coaching in both Lincoln, Nebraska and Kansas City, working with players ranging from 7v7 girls youth teams through high school ages, as well as boys 11v11 teams — including coaching on a national platform team this past year.
Adam completed his USSF C License, continuing his commitment to player development and growth within the game.
Currently, Adam serves as the Varsity Assistant and Head JV Boys Coach at Blue Springs High School, a role he has held since 2024. Before beginning his coaching career, he was a standout player at Blue Springs High School, where he was a 4-year varsity player and team captain during his junior and senior seasons after graduating in 2019.
Following high school, Adam committed to Nebraska Wesleyan University and competed during his freshman season before a medical retirement led him to transition into coaching — a path that began in Lincoln and has continued to grow ever since.
We are thrilled to add Adam to our staff and look forward to the positive impact he will make on our players and program!

“I grew up in the Northland after moving from Bosna I Hercegovina to the United States at just four years old, soccer has always been a huge part of my life. The game helped shape who I am, teaching me discipline, passion, and the importance of hard work. Now, my biggest goal is making sure every kid has the opportunity to play, no matter their situation, while pushing them to become the best players and people they can be. I’m competitive, driven, and love winning, but what matters most to me is helping young athletes reach their highest potential. Off the field, I’m excited to start a new chapter with a baby boy on the way, and I’ll always proudly believe that Bosna I Hercegovina is going to win the World Cup in 2026!”

Kansas City Surf adds a second ECNL-RL girls team at EVERY age group A message from Ricky Wiseman our Director of ECNL: “I’m extremely proud of what we are continuing to build within our program. Year after year, we have shown the quality of players, teams, and environment that we are able to develop, and this next step is another huge milestone for everyone involved. The addition of a second KC Surf ECNL-RL girls team is a massive statement about the direction of our club and the level we are operating at. This isn’t just about adding another team — it’s about continuing to provide the best possible opportunities for more players within our pathway. We fully expect both ECNL-RL teams to be highly competitive and challenging for playoff spots from the very beginning. What excites me the most is the culture, standards, and ambition that our players and staff continue to bring every single day. The growth of the program is a direct reflection of the hard work being put in by everyone involved. Kansas City Surf is excited to welcome Jaden Hayes! Jaden Hayes, born and raised in Maryville, Missouri was a standout soccer player at Maryville High School graduating in the year of 2020. During his time at Maryville he holds 2 state records, and 3 school records. Jaden has the state record for most goals scored in a single game (10) and most goals scored in a single half (10). To go along with scoring goals he also holds the schools record for most assists in a single season (23) as well as the record for most assists in a career (59). Jaden’s time at Maryville earned him an all state selection as well as 2x conference standout player of the year. He played club soccer for Alliance Academy under Steve Welch and Carson Wells, earning success at top Midwest tournaments and showcases At the collegiate level, Jaden played 3 years of division 2 soccer in the GLVC conference before finishing his last 2 years up at Nebraska Wesleyan University. His time at Nebraska Wesleyan he helped the team have back to back 10 win seasons as well as helping them reach the schools first ever conference championship. He is still currently playing for a semi professional team in Kansas, Woodland FC, which competes in the Midwest Premier League. Jaden has gained experience while coaching teams in his off season during college and helping run youth camps. He is currently a soccer trainer at Kansas City Elite Soccer. Jaden is excited for the opportunity to help Kansas City Surf grow into a destination club for top athletes in the Kansas City area.

Got our guy! Introducing our newest addition Carson Wells. Continuing to set the standard of The Best of the Best. Carson Wells is a proud product of the Northland, born and raised in Parkville, Missouri. A 2016 graduate of Park Hill South High School, Carson was a key part of the winningest class in school history. During his time at PHS, he earned recognition as 2x Conference Player of the Year, 2x First-Team All Kansas City Metro, 2x Missouri All-State selection, and was named the 2015 KC Metro High School Player of the Year. He also spent seven years competing with Futura Academy under Steve Welch, earning success at top Midwest tournaments and showcases. At the collegiate level, Carson played at Fort Hays State University, contributing to multiple NCAA Tournament runs, including Elite 8 appearances, while also helping the program capture MIAA Conference Championships. He later competed at the next level, playing two seasons with Sunflower State FC in the UPSL and MASL2 in 2020. Carson began coaching at just 18 years old and has gained experience coaching every level from U5 all the way to professional athletes. Over the past five years, he has operated his own training facility in the Northland, Kansas City Elite Soccer, working with elite soccer players from all across the metro. Carson has built his career around developing athletes of all backgrounds and skill levels, and takes pride in helping Kansas City players reach their highest potential. Carson is excited for the opportunity to help Kansas City Surf grow into a destination club for the top athletes in the area.

For the first time ever, the Surf Select Program is introducing a Platinum Team, bringing together the very best players from the 2012 age group across the entire Surf Nation. This elite group will receive a fully funded experience, including travel, flights, accommodations, meals, and equipment. Kansas City Surf is excited to welcome MJ Buckley as our newest RL Head Coach and Director of the Teal Rising Alliance! MJ brings over 15 years of coaching experience and a proven passion for elite player development to our leadership team. A Kearney local, MJ developed her game under legendary coaches Vlatko Andonovski (KC Current Sporting Director) and Dino Delevski (MASL Chicago Inferno) before going to MSU to play collegiately. Transitioning from leading high school programs to the national stage, MJ’s career includes serving on the staff for Team USA “Red” during their inaugural MLS NXT Cup victory and being honored as the 2024 Female Coach of the Year. Most recently, she served as a prominent Girls Academy National head coach at Sporting Kansas City. As Director, MJ will oversee the Kansas City Surf alliance with Teal Rising, a partnership dedicated to bridging the gap between youth development and the professional women’s game. She is especially looking forward to collaborating and working aside once again with NWSL Champion, KC Current ii Coach, and friend Mallory Weber. Together, they are committed to providing KC Surf players with unprecedented access to professional training standards and mentorship. Beyond her resume, MJ is already a familiar face on our sidelines as a Surf parent. Kansas City Surf welcomes Matt Fields! With over 12 years of experience coaching competitive boys and girls soccer, Matt brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and player development expertise to the club. He has served as a Kansas ODP coach and previously held the role of Director of Coaching, demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing player pathways and club growth. Matt holds a USSF D License, along with a USC Director of Coaching Diploma and Youth National Diploma. Matt’s coaching philosophy emphasizes technical development, tactical understanding, and fostering a positive, competitive environment where players can reach their full potential both on and off the field
