Surf Parent Policy

At Kansas City Surf, parent sideline conduct is taken seriously. The club sets high standards, and parents, players, or fans represent these standards.

Due to the referee shortage, managing sideline behavior is critical. Recent events have prompted a re-statement of club policies as a reminder of what it means to represent Surf.

Surf has three mandatory sideline behavior requirements for game day:

· There should not be any parent coaching from the sideline during a game, in any capacity.

· Surf parents should not engage in any confrontations, verbal or physical, with opposing parents or Surf team parents on the sidelines or near any game.

· Surf parents should not have any dialogue or confrontations with referees or officials involved in the game.

Surf enforces a code of conduct and sanctions for violations of these requirements. If a Surf parent is asked to leave the field or ejected by the game referee or officials, they will serve a 2-game ban from their child’s next two games. This ban is in addition to any league sanctions.

Incidents of this nature are rare at Surf, and the general conduct of Surf parents is commendable. However, occasional incidents involving other parents and family members reflect poorly on the club. There is a “zero-tolerance” policy for sideline behavior resulting in ejection. Most Surf parents behave impeccably on the sidelines and represent the club well. Cooperation in these matters is appreciated throughout the season.
